This is the source for all the church documents, including ones on peace and justice, all the social encyclicals, papal documents, etc. They also have materials on the jubilee year, liturgy, lay ministry, parish life, etc. The USCC website is well-organized and can give a good overview of all that they offer.

FI is the Non-governmental Organization (NGO) at the UN. Francis' concern for peace and creation make it logical for Franciscans to be a UN presence as a voice for the poor, for human rights and as seekers of a just society based on Gospel values. FI publishes a quarterly newsletter with information of interest to all Franciscans working in areas of peace and justice, as well as information about specific Franciscan efforts currently underway.

Pax Christi USA is the Catholic peace organization. They publish a quarterly magazine, topical reflections, books on topics of peace and justice, prayer cards, and many other excellent resources. There are also local Pax Christi chapters affiliated with Pax Christi USA that offer support for reflection and action at the local level.

Pace e Bene is a Franciscan Nonviolence Center that sponsors retreats and offers study guides on the spirituality and practice of active nonviolence. They publish a newsletter, The Wolf of Pace e Bene, and also other occasional publications.

NDE is a faith-based organization with Franciscan origins bringing nonviolent, peace-filled witness to the Nevada Test Site, seeking an end to nuclear testing through prayer, dialogue and nonviolent action. NDE publishes a newsletter, Desert Voices. They hold retreats and other activities at the Test Site and in the Las Vegas area.

IPJ incorporates the Parenting for Peace and Justice program and network and the Families Against Violence program and advocacy network. They are concerned with educating for peace and providing resources for schools and families to use to help raise children committed to peacemaking and nonviolence. They publish many excellent resources for use by families, schools and faith communities.

The Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns publishes a bimonthly newsletter with in-depth information on international justice and peace issues and  "faith in action" suggestions.


9.  Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR)

FOR is an interfaith, international organization that publishes Fellowship magazine and other resources. It has Quaker and Lutheran roots, and is currently headed by a Jesuit, John Dear. FOR feels very "Franciscan" in character, stressing reconciliation as a goal and advocating nonviolent solutions to conflict.
